Athletics: Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

FCA began this year on the first day of school! The kids were so excited and couldn't wait to get started.

Then, on Sept. 8, we had our Back to School party at the Thomason's  house. Everyone played basketball, swam, listened to music, and ate hot dogs, chips, and, of course, BROWNIES. Ana, Betty, Nina, and Garrett led a devotional after we ate, and Patrick closed with a prayer.

Weekly meetings are averaging 25-30 kids. It is so awesome to have so many kids wanting to share their faith. This week (Sept. 15) we were blessed to also have Coach Steve Heidenreich join us.

After the football game against Brooks Academy on Sept. 12, Trinity Church graciously hosted our first 5th Quarter. We had about 70 kids attend. They enjoyed pizza and karaoke. Special thanks goes out to Robert Lockaby for putting it all together for us. Our group has been so blessed to have such a supportive community.

Upcoming activities include See You at the Pole on Wed. Sept. 24 beginning at 7:00 A.M. around  the flag pole at the high school. Everyone is invited to come out and pray with us and for us.

Fields of Faith is Oct. 8. More information to come on that one.

On Sat. Oct. 25, Hill Country Camp will host a program called the Silver Ring Thing. Cost is $5.00 for advance tickets. See Garrett for more information.

Acquire the Fire is once again in February. We have about 13 kids who have expressed an interest in attending again this year. We will be working to raise money to help purchase tickets, but donations are always welcome. The people who attended last year had a great time.

We have a wonderful group of leaders this year, which makes my job very easy. These kids love to talk about Jesus and share what He has done in their lives.  Our group meets every Monday night at 7:00 P.M. at Trinity Church. All coaches and teachers are welcome to join us.

I would like  to thank Jan Thomason and Judy Jordan for helping me lead this group this year and last year. All the leaders bring something different to the meetings, which help us reach all the kids just where they are.

God is certainly working at Center Point High School!!!
