Elementary Teacher of the Month - February

by Deborah Hicks

March 26, 2010

Our Teacher of the Month is Mrs. Jan Salzman.

Caring

Jan cares a great deal that her students are successful.  She tutors them both before and after school. I always see her treating her students with kindness and consideration.  Jan shows that she cares for her students by her dedication to making their education as successful as she can.  She cares for her colleagues by helping them in any way needed.  She is always willing to lend a hand to everyone.  She cares for the community by attending functions to show her support and giving her time to help.

Passion

Jan clearly enjoys teaching.  She is always upbeat and never complains.  Her passion for teaching is evident by the massive quantity of time and effort she puts into it.  She stays late and works at home to provide her students with the best education.  She is constantly striving to make sure she reaches every child.  Jan looks for inspiration and teaching tools everywhere she goes.

Inspiring

Jan inspires me by tackling any task placed before her.  She is constantly looking for new, inventive ways to educate her students.  She is not afraid to try new things or incorporate new ideas in her classroom.  Jan inspires her students to want to learn and enjoy lifelong learning.  She inspires other teachers through her dedication and hard work.  She is also an inspiration through her positive attitude.  She never gives up on a child and never stops trying to reach her students.

Self-less

Jan shares anything she has.  She lets fellow teachers borrow supplies and manipulatives, shares teaching techniques, and encourages everyone.  She is self-less by constantly giving of herself and her time to prepare for class and help her students.  She goes above and beyond what most teachers do.  She would do anything in her power to assist fellow teachers.

Dedication

Jan comes in early and stays late.  She never misses school and never complains.  She is constantly working on curriculum, grades, activities, etc.  Jan’s dedication is evident in everything she does.  A lesson is not good enough for Jan unless it is the best she can make it.  She will tutor as much as necessary to help her students.  Everything she does is to the best of her ability.  She always gives 100%.
