Mr. Michael Barnes/CTE Instructor
2nd Semester/6th Six Weeks
Principles of Law:
As we completed discussions regarding common problems within law enforcement as well as courtroom participants, the next six weeks we turn our focus on the the different career paths one can take after high school. Students participated in a mock trial that involved the dangers of texting and driving. In mid-April we will be visiting the Kerrville Juvenile Detention Facility.
We completed lecture and open discussion on common problems facing law enforcement personnel. Students will have completed a group project that provides information on various court cases involving criminal activity such as hate crimes, human trafficking, hot pursuits and electronic crimes. This last six weeks we will discuss courtroom participants in which students will partake in a mock trial involving the dangers of texting and driving. Along with 2nd period Principles of Law class, they will also visit the Kerrville Juvenile Detention Facility in mid-April.
6th Grade Study Skills:
As we move into the final six weeks, we will begin to start focusing on paragraph and sentence structure as well as continue to strengthen comprehension and spelling. They will be required to complete their last book report and provide details on what type of text structure is used in the story. As always, students will continue to be evaluated on all areas of the learning environment with the use of classroom handouts, spelling bees and assignments.
