Wow! It's already the middle of October. Where has the time gone?
We have had a awesome start to this school year. Everyone is working hard and having fun learning. I enjoy having my students for a longer period of time each day since we are only switching classes once a day. I love being the Reading and Science teacher. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading to my "kids" every day and giving them opportunities to read more in class. They love being able to get on the floor and relax while reading a good book. This grading period I have started reading the novel, Wonder, to each class of students. We are learning about acceptance of people no matter how they look, and how to treat others nicely. We've been thinking about how we would feel if we were Auggie, the main character. Ask your child about the book.
We are busy little bees here at school. See below for a calendar of events for the remainder of October and into November.
October 18 - Progress Reports, G/T field trip, Pie fundraiser ends today
October 23-27 - Red Ribbon Week and Homecoming Week
October 24 - Homecoming Spectacular in the circle drive at high school: 4:30-7:00 food, fun, and games
Nov. 3 - SOS day. The kids are having a great time traveling around to different classes to participate in great science learning activities.
Nov. 7 - 5th grade field trip scheduled. We are going to the Science Mill in Johnson City. There will be lots of hands-on science activities.
Thanks for a great start to the 2017-18 school year. I appreciate all your help at home with homework and studying. Keep up the good work!
