Second Semester.....Here We Come!!!!

Wow! It's hard to believe that the first semester is behind us and we only have three six weeks left of our journey. We have so much to accomplish this fourth six weeks. Not only will we be working towards the upcoming STAAR test in March, but just a continuation of learning everything we can about language arts. For the next few weeks, we will be concentrating on Expository Writing. Expository writing seeks to inform, explain, clarify, define, or instruct. For the fourth graders it is imperative that they learn how to write an expository essay as it, along with a personal narrative, will be their writing samples scored for the STAAR test. The writing test will be during the final week of March. The fifth graders will also be studying the expository writing even though they will not be tested in writing again until they are seventh graders. Please help your child at home by asking them questions about their writings.
