La Apertura de Escuela (Opening of School)

by Ray Solomon

August 19, 2008

¡Hola, amigos!  Welcome to a new year at Center Point.  I am looking forward to teaching Spanish I, II, and III this year.  I have been a teacher for thirty-three years. I am a graduate of Howard-Payne University and began my teaching in Albany, Texas. Later, I coached and taught in Big Lake, Texas. Then, I moved to Kerrville and taught for fourteen years.  For five years, my wife and I both taught in Pearsall, Texas. Last year was our first year in Center Point, and my wife will be teaching third grade at Center Point this year.

Students will be learning how to speak, read, and write in Spanish.  Also, they will learn songs and poems in Spanish and will experience the culture of Mexico, Central and South America, Puerto Rico, and Spain. Too, they will become aware of the differences in pronunciation and vocabulary in the various Spanish-speaking countries

I enjoy talking with people from different countries, and I would love to have native speakers come to school to speak to my classes. Let me know if you are interested! You may contact me at: www.rsolomon@cpisd.net or through the school. If you need to visit with me, my conference will be during fourth period (10:55-11:45 am).

Cordialmente,

Ray Solomon
