2nd Annual CPISD Hill Country Garden Tour
By Betty Tromm

If you have ever sat in your garden wondering what else you could do with it, come stroll through 5 lovely gardens here in Center Point for inspiration.
Our 2nd Annual CPISD Hill Country Community Ed. Garden Tour will get under way on Saturday, May 19, 2012 leaving the circle drive in front of the High School at 10:00 AM.
1. First stop will be a country garden with plants filling unusual containers including an old metal Coke Cola cooler on legs, buckets and a cement trough hand-made by the gardener. This garden also shares space with a hobby house, greenhouse, and heart-shaped pond dug by the gardener.
2. Second stop will be a home with a lovely front yard with an office building and flower beds and a patio with an outdoor kitchen that the owner assures me is “used every day”. On a lower level are a fire pit and a view of Verde Creek.
3. Third stop you will see potted plants on a very creatively shaped wood deck with a large outdoor fireplace to sit in front of. We will enjoy a cool drink from the bar and small refreshment.
4. Our fourth stop you will see an organic garden and a patio with a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.
5. And last but far from least, you will enjoy strolling a garden with a water fall and pond, several multi-level decks, veggie garden, potting and garden tool shed and also stairs leading to a lower level where there is a fire pit, space to play horseshoes or washers or just relax and watch the Guadalupe flow by.
Tickets are $10 each and are available from Betty Tromm, Elem. Library or Shirley Wingfield (Wright), High School Library. Tickets and directions to the homes will also be available from Katy Tromm on the day of the tour until 11:00 at the High School Circle Dr.
Transportation with limited seating will be available. Individuals may carpool and follow the School van or go on their own. There will be a “Garden Tour” sign with a bright blue butterfly on top posted at the entrance of each drive. For more information, please contact Betty Tromm at 634-2183 evenings or 634-6146 at school.
Make plans to come with us for a fun outing.
