Hello from the elementary and middle school counselor

Hello! Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year. My name is Cathy Whitten. I am thrilled to be here at the Center Point elementary and middle school and look forward to working with students, teachers, parents, and administrators to help every child be the best they can be.
I grew up in Arkansas and received my BSE from the University of Arkansas and MSE from Arkansas State University. After teaching 21 years, I went back to school and received my counseling certification and have been a counselor for seven years. Although I lived most of my life in Arkansas, I have spent much of the last 16 years in Texas and now feel that I am a true Texan. I am married and have one grown son.
This year I will conduct regular guidance classes that will deal with topics such as being positive, respecting others, responsibility, and other lessons on character development. I will also see students on an individual basis and in small groups for counseling. If I can be of any assistance, feel free to contact me at 830-634-6126.
