Vision Statement
All Center Point ISD students will reach their full personal, health, and academic potential.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Center Point ISD SHAC is to ensure that all children, grades PK – 12, will have healthy body and minds through sequential health education, practices, and modeling of good health behaviors.
Goals
The goal of the Center Point ISD SHAC is to advise the decision-makers of the district regarding student’s needs and assets related to health knowledge and skills, regarding policies and procedures that impact student health, and regarding the health of the school environment.
1. Physical Activity
At a minimum, students will have 30 minutes of physical education class daily. Students will be given the opportunity for physical activity during the school day through PE classes, and recess. Physical education will be taught and supervised by certified PE teachers.
2. Nutritional Services:
Nutrition will be integrated into the health education curriculum or core curriculum. Nutritional meals will be provided to students, staff and community.
3. Human Sexuality
The SHAC will continue to monitor the current sex education program “Worth the Wait” The program will be evaluated each year for effectiveness. The program will continue to be transparent and keep parents informed.
4. Staff Wellness
Staff will be given the opportunity to participate in the District Wellness Program. The program is designed for individuals to make life long commitments for a healthy life change. The program is coordinated by the school nurse.
General
1. Child Nutrition Programs will comply with federal, state and local requirements. Child Nutrition Programs will be accessible to all children.
2. All school-based activities will be consistent with local wellness policy goals.
3. All foods and beverages made available on campus (including concessions, student stores, parties and fundraising) during the day will be consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
4. All foods made available on campus will adhere to food safety and security regulations. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans and guidelines will be implemented.
